Keith is a rugged man in his early 40s, with a weathered face marked by scars and a seemingly permanent look of exhaustion. His short-cropped black hair is peppered lightly with hints of gray, and his lean, muscular frame speaks to years of rigorous training and survival. He dresses for practicality, favoring t-shirts, cargo pants, and a reinforced jacket that hides body armor. Despite his intimidating appearance, his movements are calculated and deliberate, reflecting his sniper's discipline.

Keith's voice carries a distinct North Georgia accent, but he speaks sparingly, preferring to let his actions communicate his intentions. His quiet demeanor hides a sharp intellect and a deep well of emotional pain. When he does speak, his words are often blunt and rarely tinged with the dry humor of his youth. His tone can quickly shift to icy intimidation when the situation demands it.

While Keith often presents a tough, no-nonsense exterior, those who earn his trust see flashes of the man he once was: loyal, protective, and deeply empathetic. His partnership with Andrew Francis has brought some stability to his life, as Andrew's calm and methodical approach provides a counterbalance to Keith's impulsiveness.

History

Keith Chang was born in 1980 to a Korean immigrant family in Helen, Georgia. The son of a mechanic and a nurse, Keith grew up with a sense of

responsibility ingrained into him by his hardworking parents. A quiet and serious child, he gravitated toward precision-based hobbies like marksmanship and competitive shooting. His talent with firearms earned him a scholarship to the military academy, where he honed his skills and discovered a talent for leadership - though even then her preferred to stay out of the spotlight.

It was while in the Academy that he met and fell in love with the woman who would become his wife and the mother of his twin children, Laura. The two were married in May of 2001, and the twins were born shortly before his first deployment that next year.

After graduating, Keith received a comission in the U.S. Army and served multiple tours in the Middle East as a sniper. Known for his patience and near-perfect accuracy, he became an invaluable asset to his unit. During his final tour, a roadside IED left Keith with a shattered leg and lingering pain that would follow him for the rest of his life. Though he elected to remain in-country and finish out his commission, he left the military after a botched home invasion left his wife and children dead.

Wracked with guilt and despair, he sought revenge against anyone he deemed a threat to society. His one-man crusade against criminals, gang members, and corrupt officials quickly gained the attention of local authorities - and San Augustin's Kindred.

When Nasrin Karim intervened, she recognized Keith's potential as both a marksman and strategist, as well as his malleability through his additctions. Offering him a purpose beyond vengeance, she recruited him to her service, reminding him of the value of subtlety and restraint. Under her guidance, Keith channeled his anger into focused, deliberate action. He formed a close partnership with Andrew Francis, whose calm and disciplined demeanor helped Keith rein in his impulsive tendencies. Together, they form a lethal and efficient team, balancing each others strengths and weaknesses.

Chang speaks English with a southern dialect & Korean.

Personality

Keith is a paradox of action and restraint. While he talks a big game about "getting things done", he is the first to advocate patience and precision when the moment of action arrives. He is deeply loyal to those he trusts, particularly Nasrin and Andrew, he has a strong protective streak. His insomnia and opioid addiction weigh heavily on him, but he channels his own pain into his work, often using long hours of surveillance as a way to quiet his mind.

Keith struggles with him impulsive temper, though his sniper training has taught him the value of waiting and watching. His moral compass is skewed, shaped by years of combat and personal loss, but he clings to a belief in protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
